On May 22, there will be a charity concert for Japan in Oscarskyrkan (Oscar's Church) in central Stockholm. Among a selection of Japanese music (a choir will sing Toru Takemitsu's Sakura, among other things) Gunnar Jinmei Linder will perform Tamuke, and as a finish there will be a rendition of Akebono Sugagaki in ren-kan by Gunnar and myself.
Recently, there was a theme night on Swedish state radio about Japan where Gunnar was a guest, talking about his experiences as an expat in Japan for many years, and sharing his insights in Japanese culture. We did a performance of the same Akebono Sugagaki live in studio towards the end.
If you'd care to give it a listen, the audio clip is up on the following link: http://sverigesradio.se/sida/sandningsarkiv.aspx?programid=2953&date=20… You'll need to click the topmost audio link saying "Teman i P2", and advance the player 15 minutes to hear the performance. I'm the one with the significantly weaker sound and the handful of sharp hi-no-meris… but I nurture some hope that those problems will eventually sort themselves out during the next 15-20 years.
