Hi all,

there will be a shakuhachi honkyoku workshop with Justin Senryu in Prague on July 15-17.
His short bio can be found here: http://sites.google.com/site/justinshakuhachi/senryu

Players of all levels of experience are welcomed to attend and you will have the chance to have individual lessons in the days after the workshop as well.

Justin's main focus for this visit includes the following pieces:

Seien-ryu (Fudaiji temple): Honte Choshi, Shizu, Kyorei (these are suitable for beginners and above)
Taizan-ryu: Takiochi (intermediate)
Kinko-ryu: Takiochi, Sagariha, Hifumi Hachigaeshi, Sanya Sugagaki (since your group is familiar with Kinko-ryu, you may be able to judge the level.)
Kyushu: Banshiki (beginners OK), Saji, Azuma, Kumoi Jishi (intermediate)
Kimpu-ryu: Shirabe, Sagariha, and these pieces in 2 other keys - akebono choshi and kumoi choshi (intermediate)
Yokoyama's school (aka "dokyoku"): Tamuke (intermediate), Koku, Yamagoe (advanced).
Fudaiken: Shirabe (intermediate), Reibo (advanced)
Myoan Shimpo-ryu: Honte Choushi, Tehodoki Reiho (intermediate, but in "fu ho u" notation)

If you are interested let me or Justin know asap as we want to decide which pieces to study together.

Cheers,
*F

There are about 4 places remaining for the Prague workshop if anyone nearby has the wish to join.
The pieces being taught will be the following:
Shizu, from Seien-ryu
Takiochi, from Seien-ryu (the source of most of the "ancient" Takiochi pieces heard today)
Shirabe, from Kimpu-ryu (/Nezasa-ha)
Fudaiken Shirabe, traditionally played before Reibo from Fudaiken temple, transmitted through Onodera Genkichi's lineage

There will be some time given also for individual lessons on other pieces.
Please contact me or Frantisek in Prague for any questions and registration.

Best wishes,
Justin Senryu
