On the evening of March 26th at 8:00 p.m. my band Windbeat will play at Kochi's Bee Station, the opening band in a line up of three groups to raise money for the tsunami and quake victims in the Tohoku area of Japan, with all profits going to the Japanese Red Cross. Tickets are 1000 yen. Windbeat is a six piece band currently with members from four countries playing shakuhachi, didgeridoo, pandeiro, mbira, bongos, cahon, acoustic guitars, and ukelele, accompanying a female vocalist. The band has been in existence for two years now, the first year the band had two additional members -- a Tuvan throat-singing igil player and a Turkish player of dumbek, and was perhaps more instrumental in nature; now we've generally become more of a song oriented band, though we may surprise the audience tomorrow night. On the 27th we'll play for the sakura matsuri (cherry blossom festival) in the village of Kagamimura (sans didgeridoo player) - the event, with various music groups, runs from 10:00 a.m - 3:00 p.m.; don't know if the sakura will be in bloom or not though as it is still rather cold here.

Great! For the same reason, Daniel in my space will be some concerts.
Hope that I with my friend( player on the different ethnic instruments) will take place in it.

Thanks Jim and Sergey! Our band had a good practice in the studio last night; tonight we hope to 'windbeatify' the space...

Break a leg Daniel!

Here are some Japan relief events around New York City (more to come).

Sunday March 27, 6pm Tenri Culural Center with Ronnie Nyogestu Seldin and friends, including Ralph Samuelson: http://www.tenri.org/artsat/currentseason.shtml#benefit_concert

I’ll be playing shakuhachi at his one on April 5, 6pm.: http://aaartsalliance.org/events/special-japan-benefit-town
The Asian American Arts Alliance (a4) community gathers together to help support relief efforts in Japan. We’ll have special artistic performances from the Japanese and the Asia Pacific region as well as a meditation Qigong practice dedicated to all those who have been affected by the earthquake and tsunami. During such challenging times, healing and remembering through the arts is a way we can engage in significant and meaningful issues as citizens of the world.
A representative from the Japan Society will be on hand to share updates about their Relief Fund and how their efforts are helping people directly on the ground. You’ll have an opportunity to ask questions as well as make a contribution if you wish.

CONCERT FOR JAPAN/ Japan Society: http://www.japansociety.org/event_detail?eid=10a81178

Saturday, April 9, 1 PM — Limited Availability

Thanks Perry; best of luck with your events in New York. Concert for Japan, wow, a great line-up of musicians. Our show went well last night with 180 people attending in time to see our band; the club was full and many people donated. Several other charity music events were going on at the same time at other places in the city.
