I didn't see any posts regarding this so I felt the need to do so.

Perry, Ronnie, and the many others in the soup of "Sandy": Hope you are all doing well! As power restores, and you are able, please let us know how you are fairing.

Hi Derek,

Thanks for reaching out. My neighborhood in the Upper West Side was spared for the most part. The rolling power outages have left millions out of electricity. The transit system is shut down preventing millions of people from people getting to work. Much of the news is reporting this as a post apocalyptic scene.

In the face of previous calamities, I have seen the amazing, resilient spirit of New Yorkers prevail. Here is one organization that does great work for those who want to help in some way:

We are extremely lucky. Let's blow the flute for others.

Thanks again for checking in.

Glenn Swann in New Jersey is doing well last I heard - no power, but everything else sounded ok. I imagine that most still have power issues.

All basically OK over here. My father-in-law on Long Island had a tree smash through his neighbor's house and he lost 6 very old oak trees on the edge of his bamboo grove out there. Bamboo held up though. We live near the Gowanus Canal, not too far from Red Hook, and it's seriously rough down there. I was in the middle of tech for a play in a theater in Tribeca--a few hundred feet from the Hudson River. The theater narrowly avoided flooding--very fortunate as it would have destroyed our set, led to a loss of tens of thousands dollars, and left a lot of us without work. No power so we don't know when we'll get up and running, but that's a minor concern. All in all very grateful for what are really small inconveniences relative to those gravely affected by this cataclysmic storm. My brother works for FEMA and I just found out he got assigned to Queens. If anyone in the area is reading this and wanting to do some work helping out, I can point you in the right direction. Wishing everyone well.

Hi Everyone,

I'd like to thank you all for your concern.
I just took the week off and stayed in my Apt. upstate NY in the Mountains (Catskills), until things were more or less normalized.
My NYC studio is near Perry's place on the Upper West Side (It is on Riverside Drive).

I seem to be bad luck in some ways:
1-I just left New Orleans a few hours before Hurricane Katrina hit! (I was lucky to have a car.)
2-I was at the epicenter when living in L.A. of a number of large earthquakes.
3-Of course I've experienced earthquakes in Japan.
3-On 9/11, I lived only 10 Blocks away from the World trade Center!

But I guess when my time is up - it will be up!

Ronnie
