Hello! I just found this forum as I was browsing for information on this incredible instrument called the shakuhachi! I practice on the andean quena and the website I bought one of my best quenas from (kodoan.org) also sells shakuhachis. I had to buy one to try out. I love the feelings that this flute can evoke. It by itself may not play much of a melody but it will help one's soul to float upon a song. I really need to find instruction for my student flute! Right now I'm just blowing scales and, while they sound good, I feel that I am not doing the instrument justice.

I really love the sound of the shakuhachi. It is capable of sounding warm, happy, uplifting, sad, dark and even frightning! I hope to learn alot hear and will be combing the forum for any information.
Ernest
