PublicitéSupprimer les publicités ?
I just watched an apparent Yamaguchi Shiro 1.8 with four very obscure hanko sell on the Yahoo auction in Japan for over 600,000 yen. This is the first time in all of my watching that a Yamaguchi Shiro has come this way and it is the first time that I've seen a flute sell for such a high price. Certainly one may be able to tell a Yamaguchi Shiro just from contruction style if one has had the opportunity to see several flutes made by the maker, but on the auctions it's always 'Buyer Beware' because sellers seldom know or let on that they know what they are selling. I suppose that branding goes a long way when considering such a purchase but something tells me that there was some inside knowledge showing its face here.

I don't know. Here's the best one. Maybe you know. If anybody has a better hanko of Yamaguchi Shiro, please send it to me for the data base.

Hi Jeff, that is Shiro's hanko.

He made a lot of flutes. Some are great, some are not. 600,000 yen is a lot of $$$$$$. We'd have to know the quality of the flute and whether or not it is original to say whether this is a good deal or not.

Hi Jeff, Yes, That's the hanko on mine. Apparently he used more than one hanko. I'll try to get a better photo and send it to you. Jane

And Jane's is one of the good ones! Jeff are they four of the same hanko? Mine does not have a hanko but it has a bunch of other weird writing and a date.

It appears that all four hanko are the same. Perhaps that's why it went for big bucks.

I just asked John Singer, who studied with Yamaguchi Goro, owns several Shiro, and has owned and dealt many more than that and he says two maximum hanko on Shiro flutes. He has not even seen one with three. So we must wonder what the story is here.

Although I am not the expert on SHIRO flutes that John is, I concur that that is a SHIRO Hanko. I also, have not seen a SHIRO with more than 2 Hanko though.

I actually have a SHIRO for sale right now as well as a JUDO NOTOMI 1.8.
They are both truly exceptional instruments !
Contact me at <nyogetsu@gmail.com> if interested.

Jeff, I'll see you in about 5 hours!

We're having a great trip in Japan - my33rd year in a row!
Ronnie
