Does anybody know a teacher in Tottori Prefecture? One of my students has moved there.

Tairaku, is your student a "gaijin"?
I know I will be asked so I might as well have the answer ready. Smile
Fair enough, it is a matter of communication. Smile

He is a massive gaijin behemoth who is there to study Taiko I think. He has been there for a while so probably has some verbal skills.

Hi Brian

I finally got an answer about shakuhachi teachers in Tottori. I have not other than this:

> 1. 岩井氏 池田家墓所灯籠絵の時に墓所内を尺八を吹いて流して
            もらっています。 現在は弟子の人1名指導中との事

Mr. Iwai. I know nothing more than he plays at the annual festival at my grandmother's family grave... which is really big and it is apparently a big event in Tottori. Iwai's son is not being taught shakuhachi.... it doesn't say much.... I know.

> 2. 本庄氏 尺八の演奏もOKですが、尺八で歌謡曲やジャズの演奏
            もできます。 現在は弟子の人2名指導中との事

Mr Honjō. He can - apart from notmal shakuhachi performance also perform jazz and popular songs. And he has 2 sons learning shakuhachi... Smile

It seems Mr. Oki, whom I asked about this, would like your friend to choose and then he will tell us the contact details.
