It reads 特許（pronounce:tokkyo ) the first letter is toku( especially), the later is kyo( forgive),but nowaday tokkyo is LICENCE, not bumboo maker, not player's name. Perhaps this hanko wanted to say this is a spcecial shakuhachi, I think. _________________ I run Shakuhachi-playing-study-group(尺八吹奏研究会）. I have been studying the shakuhachi and published a text book [尺八吹奏法Ⅱ］. I wish to share with pleasure of playing the shakuhachi with all of the ESS members.
First place I check. That's been up there for a few years now. Not a lot of recent additions. One of the things that you realize is the great number of shakuhachi makers were out there that no one has heard of before. Hundreds of Tozan makers. Dozens of Kinko makers. And then the greats in both Kinko and Tozan schools which are few and far between.
I think this is one of Kikusui Kofu's Paulownia wood flutes. It's the lower signature. _________________
