Hello,

Can anybody let me know how to access this full article...'The Shakuhachi as Spritual Tool :A Japanese Buddhist Instrument In The West' by Jay Keister published in Asian Music Volume 35 Spring /Summer 2004?
I would like to read what sounds like a really interesting article.

That article requires a subscription. If you have a university library nearby that subscribes to the journal, that will be the easiest way to access it. But you can create a free JSTOR account and read this fantastic article on the true history of shakuhachi:

Sanford's book - Zen-man Ikkyu (Studies in world religions 2) - is also superb. Ikkyu, if you don't know, was a 15th Century Zen Monk who, among other things, loved brothels and shakuhachi (hitoyogiri at that time). This blog post about him is terrific:
